2012: The World is Going to End… Head for the French Mountains

Jules Verne spoke about it in his book, A Journey to the Center of the Earth. Steven Spielberg also made passing mention in his classic motion picture, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. On December 21, 2012, the end of the world is coming, or at least some people would think so. There is a belief that inside a sacred mountain in Bugarach, France, resides a group of aliens, waiting to save mankind from its destruction.

While the town is getting a boost in revenue from real estate and early tourism, there is another side of this unfinished story to consider. Imagine a town of 194 French citizens being overran by thousands of tourists, panicked believers, and cultist groups, swarming this sacred mountain. Each one attempting to be the first to board the ship to salvation.
